Brooklyn’s “post-rock” black-metal outfit, Liturgy, is set to destroy eardrums and confound headbangers with their precise, over-amped blasts with the release of their second full-length album, Aesthetica, on Thrill Jockey in May.
This week, Liturgy hit the blogoshpere with the lead single, “High Gold.” Like their sweaty, screaming intricate cuts from 2009’s Renihilation, “High Gold” is full of break-neck temp changes and thrashed-out guitars. The band shirks much of the Satan worship and blood sacrifice of other black metal heads and puts all the emphasis on their hulking auaral attack.

Thrill Jockey also made another  track, “Returner,” from the forthcoming album  available. So you can get a double-dose on this here preview.
